Hello coaches! My name is Annabelle Coppola, I am a junior at Lyme-Old Lyme HIgh School and I joined my schools rowing team in the spring of sophomore year. While my first season came with all of the struggles of learning a new sport, I found myself feeling more accomplished, more comfortable, and proud of myself than I had in any other activity I had participated in. As my novice team's main stroke, I was put through rigorous and stressful practices, but those only made me stronger. Additionally I felt at home in the team as we bonded over the rainy weather, cold lake races, and crossing the finish lines. Over the summer I continue my love of the sport by rowing with my town's team, Blood Street Sculls. In my second year, I have been rowing as my teams V1 four bow seat. I am regretful that I joined this sport a year later then I could have, and that is one of the many reasons why I strive to row in college. This sport has become my passion, and it would be a dream to be able to pursue it further, past high school. I want to meet and connect with more people who share the same excitement over the sport, and who feel at home on the water. Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]!
