The first time I picked up and oar in July 2019, I had no idea what rowing even was. With three and a half years of commitment, intense training, and a growing love for the sport, I've been able to enjoy many of the challenges and rewarding experiences rowing has provided. One of my favourite parts has been the chance to fit in on a team. I love working hard knowing everyone beside me is doing the same. I believe I am a team player who is able to motivate and push the others in the boat, as well as myself.
On my team, I have had the opportunity to be on our Junior Leadership Team (since October 2021). This group helps fundraise, support, and advocate for the Juniors team. This also means I am one of the first points of contact for new athletes, which has helped develop my communication and leadership skills.
Rowing has also developed my competitive spirit, pushing me to achieve the best results possible at practice and regattas. Most notably, I bowed in a u17 quad to a first place finish at Canadian Henley this summer. I hope to achieve an even higher level of competition next season to help prove I am committed to training at a collegiate level.
