Until I started rowing in April 2017, I was on the Ontario Ski Team representing my province at national and international U16 races. I was interested in improving my cardiovascular fitness for skiing and quickly noticed that the mental and physical discipline I developed through ski racing allowed me to ramp very quickly in the sport of rowing. I pulled a 7:40 in my first attempt at a 2K and I continue to focus on improving my technique and rowing IQ. I was initially interested in rowing because it allowed me to develop athletically and academically without the requirement of missing 100 days of school per year like ski racing.
In 2019, I made the Don Rowing 4x+ for the Head of the Charles. The HOCR was an amazing experience and I'm really proud of our bronze medal performance. In addition, I finished the year with a 99.3 in Calculus. I know, so close!
I remain passionate about pursuing rowing and aggressively developing my skills at the collegiate level. With the significant impact COVID has had on the US, I have decided to take a year off to train and further develop as a rower. My goal is to major in Business/Commerce while attending a school in the Eastern United States. The value I will bring to a US College and rowing team is an extremely strong work ethic in athletics and academics, power honed through years of ski racing, and a very positive, encouraging and fun-loving approach to all I do.
