Hi! My name is Mars Wellings and I am a rising junior at Holy Names Academy in Seattle, Washington. I fell in love with rowing when I first started in fall of 2021, the beginning of my 7th grade year, for a club team near my house (Renton Rowing Center). I never really thought of myself as someone who enjoyed sports, but ever since I started crew, I haven’t looked back. I made the switch to a coxswain due to injury when I entered 9th grade, coxing for the Holy Names team, and I have loved coxing because I am able to push not only myself, but others as well, to be their best selves, both on and off the water. I love the sport and couldn’t imagine my life without it as it has made so many positive changes to my life, so I am very happy to have the opportunity to take it to the collegiate level. Being able to balance crew and school is a skill that I really value within myself, maintaining good grades and keeping up my performance at the boathouse. I am extremely dedicated and constantly trying to improve to be the best I can be, both in crew and school.
