Personal Statement
My name is Sabrina Poole and I am a 12th grader at Holy Names Academy in Seattle, Washington. I was introduced to golf when I was seven years old by my grandmother Esther, who is a golfer in the Philippines. When she visited us here in the US, she would take me out to golf and I soon began to enjoy the game. I joined First Tee of Greater Seattle in 2010. That's where I learned the basics of golf, the 9 Core Values and how to work up to being my best self, on and off the green. Through First Tee, I was able to create friendships that will last a lifetime. I started playing on my high school varsity golf team in the 9th grade and competitively in May 2019 when I first joined Washington Junior Golf Association. I am excited about the progress I have made in these past three years. It has taught me to be more resilient and to work even harder on continuously improving my game. I strive to focus on staying in the moment while keeping a positive mindset by remaining mentally strong throughout the competitions I've played in. Concentration, dedication, grit and having a positive attitude is the key to a gratifying golf game.
Besides being an athlete, I love art and music. I enjoy playing the ukulele, guitar and piano. I am currently doing an internship at First Tee of Seattle as a coach, and I also spend time volunteering at my local church as a youth reader.
In school, my goal is to maintain a 3.5 GPA or better during my senior year at Holy Names Academy, a college preparatory school with a rigorous curriculum. In college, I intend to study the field of Criminology, Forensics and Artificial Intelligence.
