Playing soccer in college is a dream of mine, similarly to that of many kids that you come in contact with on a daily basis. I have been an extremely dedicated, hard working, and a teamplayer since I can remember. I try to help my team out in any way possible, by putting in 100% of my effort into every practice and game. I am very open to adjustment, as I can relate to most of my teammates in some way. Having experience on many different teams has helped me to grow as a well-rounded soccer player. In 7th grade, moving to Connecticut from New York had greatly impacted me, and my soccer career. I had to join an entirely new team, not knowing a single girl, and start a new experience.
Over the years, especially becoming a part of the high school soccer team, I have grown and reached many of the goals I aspire for. I worked very hard to earn a varsity spot my freshman year, and even harder to get a outside-mid starting position for the 2016 fall soccer season. My coaches consistently describe me as hardworking and dedicated to the team. In terms of feedback, each of my coaches specifically encourage me to be more self confident, knowing the level of my skill, and wanting me to put it all out on the field. I inspire myself to push myself as hard as I can because I know there always more to do and something to improve on.
Joining Shoreline FC, one of Connecticut’s premier soccer teams, has made a significant improvement in my skill and confidence level for the 2017 fall high school soccer team. As a returning starter, and now an upperclassmen, I am focused on helping my teammates play their best and feel comfortable out on the field. I also plan to continue to work my hardest and play my best to help our team go to States or SCC’s. Not having the best record after the end of my sophomore year season, I feel as if I have grown the most as a student-athlete.
I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about playing in college. I am open-minded, independent, and confident that I can play hard and be academically successful in a variety of settings. I make friends easily and transition easily, as I have lived in New York and Connecticut. Regarding my academics, at this point my interest is in Education or Zoology/Biology. I have a strong GPA, making the High Honor Roll every quarter since the beginning of high school. I have also taken the opportunity of challenging myself with honors and AP classes over my high school career. Balancing extracurricular activities and school has never been a problem for me. My mother and father have both held me accountable for my academic development, while also helping me understand responsibility and accountability.
I look forward to speaking with you and learning about your soccer program.
