Hello! My name is Elliana Welby, class of 2024 at Hopkins School. I love playing soccer! Whether I am on or off the field, I am a dedicated leader and continue to work to improve and grow. I am coachable, passionate, and love to get to know people. I strongly value academics and am looking to attend a high-academic, small D3 college in the northeast.
I have been a starter on Hopkins Varsity for 3 years as center and outside defense. Outside of high school season, I play for the Connecticut ODP team and my club, Ginga FC.
During the winter, I play futsal for Brazil CT Samba. Futsal is a passion of mine, and in 2019 and 2021 my team went to Nationals in Atlantic City, NJ. In 2019, we placed second! For the last two years, I have been selected to attend the National Identification Trials for the US Youth Futsal Team. The skills I have developed during futsal have significantly contributed to my soccer skills. Futsal has improved my technical skills, my movement off the ball, and my quick reactions under pressure.
I look forward to continuing my soccer career in college!

- Although we qualified, my BrazilCT Samba team was not able to attend the nationals this year. I was so happy when I was invited to guest play on the 2005 FC Flair team.

- I was selected to tryout at the US Futsal National ID Trials. It was incredible to play with many of the top futsal players in the country while being coached by some of the top coaches in the world. I look forward to trying out again next year!

- ActivitiesPeer Tutor 7th-8th grade, Since 2017, my sisters and I have raised $4000 to support refugees by hosting a pancake breakfast, selling seashell magnets and crafts, and holding fundraiser drives. We donate to Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services and the Syrian American Medical Association. Co-Head of Feeding The Heart Club at Hopkins which volunteers at New Haven based Soup Kitchens.
