My name is Rachael Mello and I am 5'8" 130 pound Prep School and NEP soccer player. As a new freshman I started on the Pomfret School Girls Varsity Soccer team as an outside back. This was a new position for me where it was my first year playing outside back but was able to adapt quickly to what was needed for this position. My school team has been fortunate enough to advance onto the playoffs round for both years I have been a part the team, including making it to the NEPSAC final round with only giving up 9 goals all season. My good touch, speed, speed of play, and accuracy was a huge contribution during high pace games as our defense played against fast forwards. GPS Fortis FC is a new club entered in the NEP level. On my club team my primary position is holding center midfield. Again my accuracy of passes and patient defending was a big help to my team's success this year. We advanced onto the state cup finals where we played talented players from the FC Stars NPL team. As a player I am very resilient. If my team loses the ball I work hard and am determined to win it back. I communicate well on the field with my teammates, and help direct where to go. As a student I have a GPA of 4.0. I have never received a grade below and A- on a report card, and am in highly placed classes such as honors and advanced. Although athletics is a huge part of my life, I set aside time for school to make sure I have the grades I am satisfied and proud of. Playing collegiate soccer at a school that provides the right fit and feel is one of my main goals.
