Personal Statement
My name is Tais Mota and I am a 2022 graduate from Brazil. Although being from another country, I have family in California and Florida.
I was injured in March 2020, with a partial torn ACL, a month later when trying to run, I completely torn and had surgery. In about 7 months of hard work , my doctor allowed me to practice soccer without contact, in my second practice I re-torn my ACL. I had another surgery about 4 months later, in may 6th 2021, in less than a year. The repeat year I took to get recruited, now was washed away by a new injury.
Right now I am almost 8 months in my second surgery, and I am taking a more conservative approach, and carefully training and getting fully ready to play within 10 - 11 months of surgery (March- April of 2022), being ready to play in the fall.
Although my dream of playing for Pomfret school and getting recruited to a D1 school did not happen, I am still working hard to be back on the fields better than ever - physically, tactically and mentally.
Even though I have not been able to actively play soccer for 2 years, I have learned a lot by carefully watching soccer outside of the fields, learning how to be a good teammate and leader, and pushing through the hardest times with hope and resilience.
For me, soccer is not only a game but a real passion. Specifically through this hard time, I have seen that the sport is about love and joy, and that is the way I will carry it when I get back to the fields.
Outside of soccer, I love to play guitar and ukulele, I also enjoy to read, play board and card games and solve puzzles. I carry life with simplicity, and I hope you take the time to learn a bit more about me in a call.
