Hello, my name is Molly Alger and I am a freshman at Wilton High School. It has been my dream to play soccer in college for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I tried many sports, but I knew at an early age that soccer was my sport. Meghan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan were my biggest inspirations and my dream is to be just like them in the future. My collegiate goals and aspirations are to be the best player I can be by playing college soccer. I want to be considered a good teammate and role model for others, both on and off the field. Overall, I want my college career on the field to be a happy and fulfilling experience.
I take the sport of soccer extremely seriously and I am a very dedicated player and always training to improve. I always have a positive mindset and attitude on and off the field. My coaches have always referred to me as very 'coachable'.
Being a twin, I have acquired a competitive nature ever since I was a little girl. That being said, that competitive nature has truly shaped who I am as an athlete, a student, and a person. I pride myself on my integrity, responsibility, and my dedication to always keep learning as an athlete. As for athletics, my awareness of the field and those around me has led me to have an imagination on the field. My coaches have always been very important to me and I have always valued their advice and feedback to improve my game. When I'm off the field, I find myself running plays in my head constantly and working on my own to improve my skills. When in the off-season, I compete and train for indoor track and spring track. This year was my first year participating in track and I qualified for FCIACS and STATES and earned my varsity letter which I worked very hard to receive. Followed by track in the off-season, I also go to the gym to strength train for the upcoming soccer season. Maintaining my fitness is a huge priority of mine and I take it very seriously. I strive to be the best soccer player I can to hopefully live my dream of getting recruited to play soccer in college.
My primary position is outside left midfielder. My dominate foot is my left and I have a very powerful kick. A strength of mine is using my speed to dribble the ball down the left side of the field and cross the ball into the center. When I have the opportunity, I will bring the ball down myself and cut into the center of the field to score a goal or combine passes with a teammate and score. My secondary position is striker, I enjoy using my footwork and speed to get by the defenders and score goals. My previous soccer coaches would call me the 'goal scorer' back when striker was my primary position. Over the course of many years, I put in a lot of work and effort to be the best outside midfielder I could be and I hope to get the opportunity to play my position as a left midfielder in college.
Academically, I am very driven and I put in a lot of effort to get the grades I have. My strength in school is English, I love to write and find myself writing in my free time outside of school when I'm not on the soccer field. I really enjoy school because I love to learn new things and I always have a positive attitude when it comes to learning. Time management is a strength of mine, as well as organization.
I am confident that I would be a strong asset to any team, given the opportunity.
