Being a student-athlete hasn’t always been easy, but through hard work, perseverance, and patience, I have achieved the goals I have set for myself along the way. My current goal is to become a college athlete and through the same type of dedication and work ethic that I have displayed in high school, I believe that I can achieve this goal and be an asset to my team. I am looking forward to a productive club season this fall, hoping that it will prepare me for a successful varsity season in the spring. My varsity soccer team is predicted to do well this coming season and I hope to be a major contributor as we contend for a state championship.
As mentioned before, I have learned that achieving goals isn’t always easy. I missed my eighth grade year of playing while recovering from an ankle injury. The injury required surgery and a lot of physical therapy afterwards. The downtime forced me to focus on myself and my goals and determine if soccer was really in my future. I decided that I was truly passionate about the sport and would do whatever it took to come back stronger, more focused, and more passionate about the game. This setback was hard at the time, but the memory of it helps push me forward when things are tough. Because I know what this type of defeat feels like, I know that I have what it takes to be a college athlete. No matter how tough things are, I know I can succeed.
