Because of the support of my mom and dad soccer has become an important part of my life. From starting out playing rec league to moving into middle school coed teams I found a love for the sport. Playing with the boys challenged me to be more than I thought I could be as a player-I mean being tackled in a nontackle sport was rough- I earned respect from not only my teammates but also the other teams when they realized I could handle the heat. It made me more confident inside and outside of soccer. With the new respect and confidence, I earned the nickname soccer mom from my teammates. I looked after my team as my family because they are (they even claimed my puppy as their own and asked me to keep bringing him to practice). Soccer is so important to me that I want to give back and make sure other kids have the same opportunity to play as I did. I help to find coaches and referees for the rec league I played in as a child and coaching little kids in soccer is just has fun as playing it myself. I always strive my hardest to be the best for my team if that's by running those extra laps after practice or spending that extra time after practice working on drills and plays that my teammates and I struggle with. I've seen my own hard work through being nominated for Kentucky Super Preps Student-Athlete Award and making All District Team for my high school district. Receiving these awards helped me to realize just how far I want to push myself on the and off the field. It is one of the many reasons I’m too able to call my team my second family and know they have my back as much as I have their backs.
