Hello! My name is Skylar Mackey, but my team calls me “SkyMack”. I am the starting goalkeeper at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in Austin, Texas, and have played soccer for 13 years. I was also invited to play soccer for the club team Capital City this fall. Being a field player for the first 10 years of my soccer career gave me the skills necessary for handling the ball with my feet. I am not afraid to come off my line, challenge players 1v1, and open myself up for passes outside the box. The key to making saves is to get to the ball as fast and efficiently as possible. My quick feet and explosiveness allow me to reach and complete saves most keepers cannot.
I have improved significantly in high school with 12 hours of practice per week minimum, I.D. camps, and private keeper and track coaches. I am determined to lead both St. Michaels and my new club team at Capital City to playoffs and to win state. I am very excited about playing soccer in college and bonding with a team. The sky's the limit and I am dedicated to leading my team to achieve the highest goals possible.
