Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m a student-athlete with a big passion for swimming and chemistry. Changing from the Italian state  school system to International in 2019 was a huge challenge, but it taught me how to work hard and build good study habits. At 12-years old, I qualified in my first Italian National Final race and have qualified in each National event ever since. Swimming has always been a big part of my life, and it’s helped me learn discipline, teamwork, and how to push myself to be better.

In the fall of 2024, I changed Club for the first time in 10 years! I stayed focused and kept pushing forward, which made me even stronger. I’ve also learned a lot about leadership from swimming, like how to motivate my teammates and myself, even when things get hard.

My goal is to swim in college while studying. I love working with materials, substances, and I want to make a difference in researching materials that are kind to our bodies whilst maximising athletic performance. I’m excited to grow as a student and athlete and to see what I can achieve next!

  • 2024 Nuotatori Milanesi (Federazione Italiana Nuoto (FIN) - Nuoto Agonistico )
  • Founded in 1970, Nuotatori Milanesi has always achieved important results and has been led by the current management since 1992. NM believes in sport as a school of life, both when we train young and very young athletes, and when our champions establish themselves as positive models of behavior. Constant commitment, team spirit and results orientation are the fundamental values that underlie our mission, aimed primarily at training athletes. We want to provide all the necessary requirements to develop a full personality, capable of successfully integrating into social life. We also strive to create the conditions necessary to achieve a targeted high-level technical objective. The growth of young and very young athletes occurs through a structured path and the planning of objectives that absolutely guarantee the respect of the athlete from a physiological, psychological and social point of view. We believe that, until the moment of the "absolute results" to be achieved in adulthood, the competition is only a means and not an end, an opportunity to measure oneself, to evaluate the progress made and the level reached, to begin to enter the emotional climate of the competition, to know anxiety and live with it, to joyfully share emotions and positive moments with companions.
