The first time I went swimming I was six months old and haven't been able to stay away since. Because I'm from a very rural area I didn't have many opportunities to swim competitively until I was in fifth grade and attended Fudan International School in Shanghai. Being on their swim team gave me the opportunity to compete in some of the World's largest swimming facilities and race against some of the best swimmers in the country. When I came back to America, I joined the Boy's Varsity swim team in seventh grade at a nearby school because there wasn't enough interest to form a girls team. This only motivated me to push myself. The next year I broke two school records in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Now I am a junior in high school and am co-captain of the team.
I like to challenge myself not just in the pool, but in academics and extracurriculars. I'm taking a 300-level English course at Colgate University and am stage managing and directing a middle school musical production. Not only would I like to continue my swimming journey on the collegiate level, I want to go to a school that supports me in my other ambitions.
