As far back as I can remember, swimming has been a part of my life, in fact my whole life- as I was born in a bathtub and swam up to catch my first breath. I’ve never known my life without early morning practices, and lane lines floating by my sides. By 8 years old, I joined a competitive swim team, diving, quite literally, into the world of swimming- my world. Every summer, my family and I live in France for two months, enjoying the beautiful weather and the notably different lifestyle than that of New York City. By 11 years old, however, I had a conversation with my coach. Either I had to stay home to finish training the summer season, or find a club in France to train with. I was terrified, but ultimately decided to train with a club in France. Now, I train in France with a french team, one of the best in the country. Joining a swim team in France has both drastically aided my swimming and my understanding of the french culture. After training in France, I come back to New York with better technique, new drills, and of course, fluent french fresh in my mind. As I’m finishing this season in France, I really look forward to competing in the fall and connecting with college swim teams, as my main aspiration is to swim competitively in college. I also strive far in academics, as I am a straight A student and always reach to do the best I can. Through swimming internationally, I have expanded my sense of team spirit, and am open and able to adapt to different practices and circumstances. My strong academic goals prove that I a hard worker, not only in school but in the pool, and anything that crosses my path.
