Ever since my father signed me up for swim lessons at a very young age, swimming competitively at the collegiate level has been a dream of mine. But I always knew this dream could only become a reality through an immense amount of dedication, not only in the water but at home as well. It is from my commitment to swimming that I obtained valuable life lessons that could never be taught. I wish to continue my swimming career to improve my abilities in the sport I love, along with building strong character and relationships that will last a lifetime. However it was neither the coaches nor my teammates making me go. It was my desire to be the best that I can. Swimming has shaped me both physically and mentally into the person I am today and I could never imagine my life without it. Along with my devotion to the sport, some standout abilities of mine include patience and receptiveness. I understand that it takes a great amount of time and effort to improve one of my times by only a second. I am very receptive to criticism any coaches or peers have given me. I understand they are only trying to help and I respect their opinions. This is why I continue to push myself to make sure my childhood dream becomes a reality. I am eager and qualified to face the challenges that swimming at the collegiate level will bring.
