I want to swim in college because swimming adds structure to my life. Swimming has taught me time management, grit, teamwork, and commitment. I swam on the Tigard-Tualatin Swim Club from when I was 8 to the summer after my freshman year. I took a break from club swimming my sophomore year and had a lot of fun only being apart of my high school team. I was given the 'Most Inspirational' award at the end of this past 2017-2018 season. In the spring I wanted to try something new so I signed up for my school's tennis team. Although it was my first year, I was chosen to be the JV team captain. During my time off club and after high school season, I realized how much I really miss swimming and that I don't want swimming to end after high school.
I love being in a team environment and being able to cheer on my teammates and feel like a family. Even when I am not swimming, I enjoy volunteering at meets and I feel very comfortable and have a lot of fun in that environment. I'm currently practicing with my high school team, but I plan on rejoining club after this season ends. I've been on the varsity team since I was a freshman and a state team alternate the past two years as well.
I work very hard in school, with most of my classes being IB. Business classes interest me which lead me to become an ambassador for "Young Entrepreneurs Business Week" which is a program that helps youth develop business skills. By going through this program, I have been able to be in a hands on business environment, which has given me insight to what I want to pursue in the future.
