As a small-for-my-age seventh grader, I was given a yellow-jersey for my first 1600 M run, meaning that my placement would not bring any points for my team. When I crossed the finish line first, I was so proud and I enjoyed seeing the shocked look on my coaches faces that such a small girl could come out on top. I had always loved to run, but now I loved to race!
I have experienced a lot of races since that first one. Some have been just as victorious and others not, but my love for the sport and the self-determination it takes has remained. As I head into my junior year, my goal is clear: to run at the collegiate level for a team that I can contribute to and learn from. Although separated into individual events, I love the team aspect of track and field and the friendships that only those who have run 40 miles a week together can have.
I am a good student and attend a 6A high school that is very challenging and competitive academically. I have pushed myself in accelerated (K-level) classes and have enjoyed five years of theater and theater production as well as been an active leader and volunteer in my local National Charity League chapter.
I hope that you will review all parts of my profile and see that I have worked hard these past years both on and off the track with the hope of continuing to compete for a program that I can be a benefit to and that will also teach me to be the best runner I can be. Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon!
