Personal Statement
As I flew past the other girls on the field dribbling the soccer ball toward the goalie, I felt like the fastest person on Earth. I could hear the crowd yelling and screaming for me – I was the one who brought excitement to the game, every time I played. Unfortunately, the excitement of the crowd, as well as my own, would usually come crashing down, as I kicked the ball into a goalie’s arms, or into the post, or over the top of the goal. I didn’t make my high school soccer team, but I knew I wanted to play high school sports. So I decided to try out for track.
Ever since, my track career has skyrocketed and track has become my passion. In only two years of running, I have already individually achieved Virginia All-State status and qualified for Emerging Elite Nationals in the 400m. However, my proudest accomplishments are as part of my 4x4 and SMR relay teams, both of which achieved All-American status at Nationals. I believe that, with continued hard work and dedication, I will rise to even greater heights and go on to compete at the highest levels of this sport in college. Going from a freshman walk-on to an All-American who is captain of my team, I am comfortable fitting into any team in any role that is needed. Additionally, I maintain a 3.99 GPA, even with all of the missed classes and little-sleep nights that I have endured since I began running track. I hope that you will consider me as a strong candidate for your track program!
