Personal Statement
I am 6'2' and left handed with an athletic build and strong desire to always do my best. I love volleyball, am extremely coachable, and good at applying learned techniques. I am a six rotation player, hit a heavy ball, put up a strong block against the outside, have a dynamic approach and fast arm swing. I have been coached by accomplished and tough coaches (High School Coach is Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn who coached Misty May and April Ross as high school players at Newport Harbor, Coach Charlie Brande at OCVBC and this coming club season at Prime Volleyball Club 18-1 ASICS Team coaches by Ron Larsen).
I have played at the highest levels (Junior Nationals -Dallas 2013/Minneapolis 2014, Silver Medal at Southern California Qualifier 2014, Fifth Place Southern California Qualifier 2015, Arizona Festival 7th place finish 2012, USAV A2 High Performance Program participant 2014, USAV SCVA Regional High Performance Team 2015 where I competed at HP Championships July 2015, Northern Lights Qualifier, Pacific Northwest Qualifier to name a few). I have played varsity since my sophomore year for Newport Harbor which has a nationally known volleyball program (5 state titles and Misty May and April Ross alma mater). During our past high school seasons we have participated in tournaments around the country: the Ann Kang Oahu Tournament, Mother McAuley Tournament in Chicago, Dave Mohs Tournament, various sand tournaments and the Tournament of Champions in Santa Barbara to name a few.
I take the most rigorous classes possible (junior year schedule AP Calculus, AP/IB Comp/Lit, AP US History, Physics, and Spanish 3 and present senior year schedule: AP/IB Literature, AP Government, IB Astronomy, IB Business, and IB Math Studies). I am a team player with a good overall volleyball IQ and extremely coachable and always striving to get better. I am a calm player under pressure. I get energy from being under pressure. Another fun fact is that although I play volleyball as left hand dominant (serve, hit & tip), I write/play tennis with my right hand- I can therefore make shots and hit drifting sets with my right hand. And although I almost always play front row, I am also a good defensive player and have been told my passing is right on. I am so excited to play college volleyball with a team well matched to me and that I can help lead to victory!
