Personal Statement
I started playing volleyball when I was in the 8th grade. It was not until after freshman year of my high school season that I joined Brandywine Volleyball Club and realized the game is my passion. I am devoted and motivated to improving my play in the sport. Though I started playing the sport later than a number of club players, I have grown tremendously as an athlete and a volleyball player. I know how to adjust to new and difficult situations and will embrace challenges with a positive, flexible attitude.
I learn new skills quickly and look for advice to become a better player. I have played as a middle hitter for most of my high school volleyball experience, but have shown on my club team that I can play in any position on the court. My coaches can count on the fact that I work hard and will step up when the team has a need. For example, I have played right side hitter as well as defensive specialist. I am an athlete who strives to win and loves the game. Not only am I a leader on the court, but I also lead off the court.
In school, I am a very well rounded student. I participate in the arts: jazz band and chorale. I am also a leader/clerk in multiple student-run clubs such as Diversity (promoting healthy discussions of diversity in the student body), B+ Foundation (a national organization benefiting childhood cancer research), Student Disciplinary Committee (a student panel aiding school administration in student disciplinary actions), and as “Tenth Grade Class Representative” of our student body (advocate for my class to student led changes in our Quaker community). My plan for the rest of high school is to be an IB Diploma student. I hope to attend a school that will challenge me academically and athletically. I would like to find a profession in a Biomedical field, and I am especially fascinated by the brain. I know I can make a positive impact both on your team and in class! I'm open minded to all offers and positions.
