Ashley Williams '19 Recruiting Profile

Hi I'm Ashley Williams, a 5'7" setter, from Valrico, Florida. I have two sisters the same age as me (triplets) who also play volleyball. We all play a different position and we all love volleyball.

As a triplet, I had to overcome the obstacle of being my own person and not hiding behind the shadow of being a triplet. The three of us, I would say, have three completely different personalities but the one thing we have in common is the love and passion for volleyball.

Our family has loved volleyball ever since we first started playing it. I first started playing volleyball in fourth grade (the first year available) at my school. I have went to a Baptist school all my life from when I was three years old until I was in eighth grade. All of my family are Christians and I am also a Christian and that is something important to me.

My interests academically have always been science and math so I think I would want to major in something of that category. My mom is a microbiologist and my dad is a county engineer so I think that's where I get my interest in those from. My mom actually played volleyball in college when she was younger and that is why I started playing volleyball. Immediately when I touched a volleyball, I fell in love with the sport.

My academic goals are quite high for both high school and college. I just try to do my best in everything I do both academic and sports related. I have learned from playing volleyball that its not only an individual position game but you also need to be able to learn how to work together with the people on your team. I just try to stay out of drama or if I am involved I just try to resolve it so my team can work together.

I want the experience of being a college volleyball athlete and I'm ready to go the extra mile to be successful and contribute to my college team.  My mom says being part of a team will make my college experience more memorable and make me an overall better person.
