While volleyball is my passion, it is most important to find the right fit for college to support my educational goals to become a Journalist. As an aggressive athlete, I am considered an anomaly to the sport; I offer an imposing defensive and offensive distinction at the net. Playing since the age of eleven at our local YMCA, I have grown from not knowing my strength to becoming a well-known volleyball powerhouse.
In 2015, my high school sophomore year, I was selected to the All-Western Conference Federal Division First Team. I was featured in two articles published by local news media, TBO.com (Tampa Tribune Online) and The Plant City Observer as “Player to Watch in 2016” and again in 2017 as "Cover Story Player of the Week" interviewed and published by The Plant City Observer.
Well rounded in life away from the court, I enjoy writing. As Editor-In-Chief of my high school year book, I have written numerous articles and conducted interviews with classmates about diverse and adverse topics. I have received an Honorable Mention at the 2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for my poetry entitled, “Evangelion”. I am member of the Writing Club and volunteer my extra time to Meals on Wheels and Café of Hope, where I deliver or serve food to members of our homeless community.
As I ascend to the highest levels of achievement to become the best person and journalist, I use the tools attained from my experiences such as Girl Scouts, YMCA Camp Counselor, Volleyball Travel Club Member and just being a plain trusted best friend. These tools include accountability, dependability, integrity & honor. It is important to add the best curriculum to this box of tools. I want to be a part of carving a better future through productivity for a meaningful life.
