My name is Kate Ares and I am a left-handed opposite hitter. Throughout my years of volleyball, I have grown in my abilities, as well as my passion for the sport. Although it was not the first sport I began playing, my love for it grew quickly and I knew it would be something I would continue with for many years into my future. Being a three-year varsity starter and club player has led me to become the person I am today. In my sophomore year, I was given the underclassmen excellence in athletics award between athletes in grades 9th through 11th. Along with my efforts on the court, I also have been the starting goalkeeper for my varsity soccer team during my freshman, sophomore, and junior year. In my freshman year, I was a First Team All-Area player. My experience with team-oriented sports has caused me to be an extremely coachable and open-minded player. I am always looking for correction on my game to make me a better and stronger player. Being a middle blocker my freshman year has also given me the ability to adapt wherever I am placed on the court. I think my motivation, drive, and competitiveness set me apart from my peers because I want to not only win and build my physical strength, but also my mental game. I have always valued strong relationships with my coaches and teammates because I think the atmosphere you surround yourself with effects individual and team play. Along with my efforts on the court and field, my education comes first. I am an AP and honors student who has been on the Honor Roll every semester and is a member of the National Honors Society, National French Honors Society, Science National Honors Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honors Society. I take pride in the fact that my goals to play in college and my whole recruiting process has been initiated by me because it really shows the passion I have for volleyball.
At the collegiate level, I hope to play volleyball and pursue an education in a medical-related major at the school that fits best for me.
