Nina Torio '16 Recruiting Profile

Aloha!

My name is Nina Torio and I'm a 5'4 junior at Mililani High School. I'm very interested in playing volleyball at the collegiate level while also pursuing a college degree in either entrepreneurship or graphic design. Academically, I maintain a 4.14 GPA. My teachers and classmates would describe me as a very kind, hardworking and focused student. I always aim to be a role model and inspiration in and out of the classroom. I'm part of the Fellowship Club and also love to play the piano and make shirt designs in my graphic designs class at school. I also have dreams to study abroad and travel around the world on mission trips with my church to other countries.

As for volleyball, this would be my 7th year playing volleyball and 4th of club volleyball. This year, I'm playing for Mililani Volleyball Club on the 16's team. I've been playing libero for two years now, and I have grown to love this position and the role I play on the court. I've worked very hard to just be the best libero I can be for my team and have experienced firsthand what it feels like to try over and over again to get that dig, pass, set, or serve right even though I may be really frustrated at times. Never giving up, I have improved my serve receive, digging, communication, and developed into a very strong server. My goal is to continue improving everyday in all these areas while also being that person on my team that can lead when a game gets rough or even someone who they can turn to off the court.
