Hello, my name is Sydney White, I live in Woodridge Illinois. I attend Downers Grove South High School, and I currently play for my high school team. I also play for New Wave Volleyball in Westmont on the 17-Tsumani(first team) I've been playing here for 2 years. Before that, I played at Sunsetters Volleyball which is currently Lions Woodridge for 1 year and I played at Sports Performance for 5 years. Overall I've been playing 10 years I will be 17 very soon and I started when I was 7. Volleyball has always been a passion for me since I was a little girl, I fell in love with the game when my dad called me in to watch a Penn State game when I was 7. I told my parents I wanted to try the sport out and just see how it goes. I ended up really enjoying the game and learning different plays and techniques at a young age although there is still room for improvement which there always is even in life I find myself always working harder than I should. I am the team captain of my team for New Wave and I strive and want the best for myself and teammates. I feel like that is a good aspect for myself because not only do I push myself to work harder but I also push my teammates to work harder whether they like it or not. I believe in tough love and taking criticism not to the heart but to the head so I can think to learn and progress. Academically I work very hard in the classroom I try my best to challenge myself but also my teachers. I believe in pushing teachers and coaches to expand some learning abilities. I take on a very high leadership role, since elementary school. I earned a lot of medals and awards for being a leader so far through my life. One, in particular, is in elementary school I got a very big leadership award 7 years later I went back to Thomas Jefferson and gave a speech to the entire student body about good leadership roles. I believe in working hard and never giving up! I want to thank you for taking time out to read this and I hope I could be a fit for your school.
