Hi, my name is Nicole Kennedy and I would like to introduce myself! I am 16 years old and a junior at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Long Island, NY. I have played on the varsity volleyball team since freshman year and became a starter as a sophomore. I have been playing club volleyball since the 7th grade. I played for B&B Volleyball Club for three years and in those three seasons, my team received third, second, and first place at the GEVA Club Regionals. Now I play for CALI Volleyball Club and have had two seasons with them. During the summer, I play beach doubles and have been since the summer going into 7th grade. Two seasons ago, my partner and I went to the AVP Beach Junior Nationals in Atlantic City and received 9th place. I believe that beach volleyball has helped me to become a better all-around indoor player.
I am a very hardworking and dedicated student. I am not completely decided on my major, but it will likely be in Pre-Law, Business/Marketing, or Psychology. In 8th grade, I was nominated into the Junior National Honor Society and have been an Honor Student throughout high school. I chose to go to my high school because I knew it would be challenging. I am always pushing myself to be better, whether it involves school or volleyball.
I enjoy giving back to the volleyball community, as well. I have been volunteer coaching a CYO team for two years now. I wanted to do this because the girls that I coach are young and still have so much opportunity and potential in becoming great at this sport. I have been given every opportunity possible and I am beyond grateful for that and want these girls to have the same experience. Volleyball has been more than just a sport for me. Of course when I started in 5th grade, I do not think college even crossed my mind once, but through the years I have made incredible best friends, learned from inspiring and amazing coaches and mentors, and had some of the best experiences and moments of my life right on the court. It has always been a place where no matter what else was going on in my life outside of volleyball, I could escape and focus on the thing that has kept pushing me and teaching me life lessons that I would not have learned off the court.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
Nicole
