Personal Statement
My name is Stephanie Carson, I am from Cincinnati, Ohio and I am a senior at Walnut Hills High School. Walnut Hills is a top-ranked college prep high school in Ohio. My GPA is currently 4.1 weighted and I scored a 27 on the ACT. I am doing well in the 3 AP classes I am currently enrolled in.
I have strong DS/Libero skills. This past year I was Libero for the Varsity team, taking on a leadership role and was awarded the Defensive MVP. I had the 3rd highest digs/game (5.12) in the conference, earned 2nd All-Conference Team, and was nominated for the Cincinnati Senior Showcase. I put my best effort to do everything I can to keep the ball off the ground. The best part of my game is my scrappiness and consistency throughout matches. I am a very driven and competitive player and like to win, so I am always looking for ways to improve my game. Recently I’ve been focusing on my passing and staying low. I want to provide my setter every option to be successful and will do what it takes to help my team compete at a high level.
I play club volleyball for Cincy Classics. This past season, I played all 6 rotations as both a Defensive Specialist and an Outside Hitter. I love the game of volleyball because it’s a fast-paced sport that requires a bonded team, strong mental endurance, and physical strength.
I participate in Culinary Club at my school where I enjoy cooking and eating a wide variety of foods. Every summer I look forward to a week-long trip canoeing 75 miles down the Little Miami into the Ohio River with 50 teens from all around the city. For the past several years I have been a peer leader, assigned in guiding the young kids and the group through the week. I’ve been working at Swampwater Grill as a hostess for the past year and a half and I really enjoy working with others to help customers.
