Skyler Ferguson '19 Recruiting Profile

    I LOVE volleyball.  I know I am only a freshmen in high school, but I understand what I need to do to be successful.  I am a efficient worker.  I know I have to continue to work on skills until I get them correct and then I need to work some more.  I need to work until my skills become second nature.  Just because I can pass a ball doesn't mean that I don't have to practice that skill anymore.  I need to do it effectively most of the time.  Accuracy is important in every aspect of the game.  I try to learn from my mistakes and the mistakes of others.  Learning never ends.  If I am playing high school volleyball or college volleyball, I am open to learning new skills and techniques to improve my game and improve the team.  I learn a lot by watching others.  Training is year long.  There is more to volleyball that just serving, passing, setting, and hitting.  Volleyball involes whole body conditioning.  Whole body conditioning does not only happen from August through October, it is a life long process that I am working on.  I have accepted the fact that I will not be six foot tall; however, that does not mean that I can't play like  I'm six foot tall.  I play big and I play strong every game.  

    Academically,  I plan to have my associates degree when I graduate from high school.  I am looking at a medium size college where I can feel comfortable both academically and socially.   Currently my major is undecided.  I am taking different types of classes to find something that feels right for me.  I have been visiting different local colleges to get a feel for campus life and I have been searching for different majors that would allow me to use my creativity and make an impact on society.  

    Adults who know me describe me as determined but grounded.  If someone tells me I can't do something, it makes me more determined to prove them wrong; however, I know there are things I know I can't do.......yet.  Adults also describe me as passionate.  When I am involved in something, I give my all.  I put everything out on the floor every game and I give everything I can to my projects.

    What makes me different than other recruits?  I am unforgetable!  I will make you laugh, I will make you cry, I will make sometimes wonder why!  But you will have to guide me but you will not have to babysit me.  I believe early is late.  I will be early to practice and stay late after practice.  I will ALWAYS be in class.  I will always give you my all!!!
