Personal Statement
My name is Macenzie Richards and I believe I will make a great candidate for your team because of my personal qualities.
I am driven to improve every day. Although I began my volleyball journey later than most girls, I have grown extensively. Because of my passion, hard work and dedication to the sport, I went from not getting a lot of playing time in 7th grade to starting on my 8th grade team and being moved up from JV to Varsity my 9th grade year. I read a statement form Coach Karch Kiraly stating that "Job number one...for all athletes, is to be learners and embrace the growth mindset."
I am coachable.
I am disciplined.
I am competitive and want to win at everything I do.
I manage my time well. I condition, practice and work hard each day, on top of school work and spending time with friends and family.
I am a passionate player and learning daily how to remain in control of my emotions by not allowing myself to get too nervous or upset before, during or after a match.
My father was captain of both his football and basketball teams and my mother ran track. They gave me the opportunity to choose from many different competitive sports. For example, I played basketball and flag football, participated on a competitive cheer team for three years, track for two years, and soccer and dance for one year. I started playing volleyball my seventh grade year and have been playing ever since.
One of my goals is to earn my degree in Education or Business. I am very interested in teaching because I love children and would like to make a positive impact in their lives. I love to design as well. While completing a higher level of education, I plan to pursue my love of volleyball and hopefully have the opportunity to play and excel at the collegiate level. I intend to find a positive college atmosphere that will not only help me excel on the educational level but also the athletic level.
