Rachel Peterson '24 Recruiting Profile

I've been playing volleyball for seven years. In 7th grade I started to truly fall in love with the sport. That was the season I figured out how much I love the feeling celebrating with my team after a kill, or making a perfect pass and watching the point finish in our favor. My coaches and teachers have often told me I am a natural leader. I always give 100% of myself to what I am doing. Over the last couple of years, I've discovered my vocal leadership and compassionate nature help me bring people together. I have a harmonizing and energizing effect on my team whether on the court or on the sideline. I love my teammates, but more than that I love being a teammate and contributing to something bigger than myself.  

I'm a super curious person and enjoy learning new things. I'm especially interested in the creative arts. Photography and Graphic Design are two of my favorite classes right now.  I love to write short stories and compose music as the scores behind them. I plan to explore Film studies, and minor in music or photography.  

Volleyball continues to play a large part in shaping who I am. The challenges as much as the victories fuel my competitive spirit and push me to become a better player, leader, and a better human. It has taught me look beyond whats right in front of me, to trust the process, believe in my abilities and those of my teammates, to be more decisive, and to put in the work. The confidence and skills this sport has given me are tools I will carry with me to the next level- playing in college- and beyond that into the rest of my life. I will continue to show up and compete!
