I've always had a passion for working hard and fighting to be tougher than others. Though I've never been as tall as my teammates, that didn't stop me. I just had to put fear of failure aside. After playing tackle football for 6 years, I found a new passion for wrestling. The sport was introduced to me by a new football coach in my sophomore year. Coach Linthicum transferred to Parkwood to coach football and wrestling. He recognized my hard work ethic and my size. He told me that with my strength, I would be a great wrestler, so I tried it. I fell in love with wrestling. The thing I loved most about wrestling is that the person who worked harder would win the match and it was that simple for me. Coach L invited some other football players to wrestle, but most of them dropped out because it was too tough of a sport. But for me, that was the exact reason that I stuck with it. My teammates were always bigger than me, but that didn't mean that they could out work me. The summer of 2019 I made a huge decision to not play football so I could focus all of my time to wrestling in the offseason. I am driven in and out of the classroom. I've taken almost all honors and AP classes in high school and haven't had a C yet. I plan to keep it that way. Because of the advanced classes I will be taking next year, I plan to bring my GPA above a 4.0. I hope to be accepted into a good college close to home where I can continue my education towards a career in sports medicine. I truly believe that I am a well rounded person and I'm determined to succeed in everything that I do. This is why I would be a great student athlete in your college.
