Personal Statement
My name is Garrett Heying and I am a 2023 catcher.
My goal is to help my team win no matter the circumstances. One example of my determination comes from my sophomore football season when I broke my fibula. At the time I didn't know it was broken and I fought through the pain because I wanted to help my team win so badly during a season with many struggles. After sitting two weeks on the bench, I finally made the starting lineup again in our first playoff game. We ended up losing that game, but I learned the mind is more powerful than the body and almost NOTHING CAN STOP YOU EXCEPT YOU.
I take my academics seriously, and it is my goal to continue to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. I would like to attend a college at any level that offers a degree program that will facilitate opportunities in sports management. I have been blessed to play leadership roles on the field and I think that requires a confident attitude and keeping my teammates up even if the score or the situation makes it a challenge. I play the game with heart, and never play slow. I have been through the highs and lows of the game, so I have learned how to deal with the consequences of both. My love for baseball started in kindergarten, and I am just looking for an opportunity to continue playing the game I have an unmatched passion for.
