I first became interested in baseball when I was eight years old playing little league for the town I grew up in. I knew back then that I enjoyed baseball enough which motivated me to keep working hard at it. That same year I decided to try out for a local USABL travel team and I was fortunate enough that the coaches took a chance and believed in me. We were playing in a tournament later that year and we ran out of pitching. My coach put me in to pitch for my first time and I did really well. The thrill of controlling the tempo in a game with no time limit help me realize that I loved to pitch. I kept developing my skills over time and was fortunate to enjoy some future success on the field (including being the winning pitcher for several championship games). I also play first base and can play the corners in the outfield. I am very good at fielding a ball down the line to my back-hand side at first. I will play any position my coach wants me to play; I’m not afraid to dive for a ball or look to take an extra base; and I can keep my emotions in check when on the field. Through the game of baseball, I have learned how dependent I am to my teammates. The best games I ever played in were with a team of my friends.
While working hard to improve my game, I worked equally as hard in the classroom and have maintained excellent grades to date (
I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team but the character, work-ethic, and skills to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level. As a two-sport honor roll athlete, I am confident that my abilities will continue through college.
