My name is Kyle Wenckus. Aside from my physical strengths as a pitcher and infielder, I am best known for having a strong work ethic and being extremely coachable.
I also believe in being a team-first player, as I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my team win. Coaches I’ve played for have also told me that they appreciate my humbleness and willingness to learn. As a pitcher, I have good velocity and a lot of movement on my off-speed pitches. On the mound, I am comfortable throwing any pitch in any count. I am not afraid to utilize the entire zone as needed, which usually allows for swings that lead to weak contact–or strikeouts. But my biggest strength on the mound is my ability to stay level-headed; I don’t get rattled easily. Most people will say that they can’t tell by my demeanor whether I pitched a perfect game or let up 6 runs in 2 innings of work.
While hitting is an area that I continue to work on to improve, I feel that with my quick hands and prolonged training, I can become a more dangerous two-way player - as I am also an athletic infielder with a good deal of range.
My strong desire to play at the next level, along with family support, motivates me to keep working hard as I move forward through the ups and downs of baseball. I believe that I’m a critical part of every team’s chemistry, and my production on the mound or in the field will be an asset for any college team going forward.
