I am currently a sophomore in a rural high school. I just finished my freshman season but since there was a senior goalkeeper, I did not get any significant playing time. I have learned a lot from Coach Marcus, the private coach I started working with last year. I took a break from him during the season but hope to get to start working with him again soon. You can see my fall/winter training highlights on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/-MuW5xMPse8?si=NiCALLH-uRMezP9k I also play football as a punter/kicker.
I am eager to play soccer in college and would be an asset to your team. I thrive under pressure. I have a good eye for the game and communicate well with my teammates. I am coachable and am always eager to learn anything I can to improve my play. I have recently started working with a personal coach in a nearby city. I will bring my resilience, perseverance, and dedication to a college team and work hard to learn and grow with the team. Academically, in college I plan to study athletics and sports management so that in the future I can coach others and help them learn to play the sport I love.
My background: I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old. I discovered I have a passion for goalkeeping when I was 8 years old and played locally with our recreation league until I aged out at 11 years old. In 6th grade, I helped our team win the district championship by defending the goal for half of every game. In 7th grade I helped our team win the district championship again as the only goalkeeper for the team. That year, I won an All Conference award after we won the final game in triple overtime sudden death penalty kicks. In 8th grade, there was no championship since we had a young team. But as the only goalkeeper and a team captain, this gave me the opportunity to help the younger players learn. It also gave me more opportunities to grow as a goalkeeper since there were more shots on goal. I ended the season with 72.5% saves.
I will be posting extra videos on my YouTube channel as I progress through high school: https://youtube.com/@scottqualls_goalkeeper?si=lqjirkUGsAoegCUh
