Joey Applewhite '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Joey Applewhite Jr., and I’m a 2026 linebacker/EDGE from King’s Fork High School in Suffolk, Virginia. I’m committed to excellence both in the classroom and on the field—with a 3.5 cumulative GPA, a 3.3 NCAA Core GPA, and early graduation eligibility for January 2026.

I don’t claim to know everything about football, but I do know I’m meant to be on that field. From freshman year to now, my game has grown in every way. As a freshman, I played with raw energy and instinct. As a sophomore, I learned to recognize plays faster and improve my pursuit and discipline. Now, in my junior season, I’ve sharpened my zone coverage skills, read-and-react ability, and pass rush versatility—becoming a more complete linebacker who can adapt and lead.

One of the mottos I live by is: “Next Rep, Next Play.” It reminds me to stay focused on growth, not perfection. I show up every day hungry to learn, to compete, and to earn the next opportunity.

This year, I plan to attend multiple camps to continue sharpening my technique, compete against top talent, and gain exposure. I’m looking for a program that develops not just athletes, but leaders—where coaches push players to become their best mentally and physically.

My ultimate goal is to leave this journey knowing I gave everything I had to reach the highest level possible. I believe in consistency, persistence, and keeping my circle strong. Off the field, I spend time with my family, volunteer in my community, and study the game I love. I’m ready to grow with a program that believes in building greatness the right way.
