My Story.
My name is Mateo Magaña and I am a 6'3" 180lb combo guard known for my grit, mental toughness, and passion for the game of basketball.
I played for Northfield High School, starting on JV as a freshman and working my way up to be a vital part of the varsity squad by my junior year. I transferred to Denver South but due to CoVid, the season was cancelled. In AAU, I competed with the Knights Elite against many of the top ranked teams in the country and finished strong at the Pangos Premier tournament where I was recognized as a “Stock Riser: Impressive display of shooting skill & playmaking ability, Team Knight vs Pangos Premier in front of Power-5 Coaches! Finishing w/19pts(5-triples), 4assist.”
I've spent countless hours perfecting my game, modeling myself after the greats. I am a consistent shooter with a strong 3-point shot. I can handle the ball well with excellent ball handling skills. But my path has not been easy. In middle school, a mysterious physical condition halted my ability to play. After a long recovery, I endured years of pain and treatment before fully overcoming the condition. The challenges shaped me into who I am today - someone far stronger and more driven. Obstacles became opportunities to prove my resilience.
Now fully recovered, I am ready to bring my shooting, ball handling, court IQ, and vocal leadership to the college level. You won't find a harder worker or someone more committed.
I am currently at an NAIA school but decided to redshirt last year so I can maintain my 4 years of eligibility and I'm looking forward to the season.
I know my unconventional path has prepared me to take on whatever challenges come my way. I can't wait to join a program, contribute my skills, and do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. My perseverance and passion make me an asset. Thank you for considering me - I am confident I can overcome challenges and support the team in any way needed.
Thank you.
