Hello, my name is Jared Hall and I want to play college basketball. I became interested in the sport when I watched and listened to the stories of basketball players, which inspired me to start playing. I am a shooting guard from New Jersey who plays on an AAU team called Provenance Development, Pro Dev for short. After my AAU season ended in July, I reached out to my high school coaches to ask what they believed I needed to work on for the remainder of the Summer to come back a better player my sophomore year. I wasn't interested in just playing more games over the summer. With that feedback, I have hit the weights and added muscle, worked on consistency in my jump shot, and finishing with both hands more efficiently. I'm watching film to increase my basketball IQ as I know that will make me better and be a bigger asset to the team. I understand it's all about confidence, but confidence is only gained through repetition and I'm working hard every day.
My academic goal for high school is to achieve and maintain honor’s level performance. I want to participate in extracurricular activities that will make me a more well-rounded person. For college, my goal is to get a good degree that will help me become successful in life. Though I do not know exactly what I wish to study now, I know it will be something that will entail math and analytics. I have encountered one major obstacle so far in my basketball journey. I injured my knee during a rec league game and underwent knee surgery during my 7th grade school year. This caused me to miss a whole season of basketball and development. This moment made me a stronger person and gave me the knowledge to not take anything for granted and always use the opportunities you are given to the maximum extent. Some unique characteristics I possess are being very creative, inspiring, confident, and lastly leadership. I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
