I have been around the game of golf since I was young. My dad and I played for fun and he told me stories about how he played in the same groups as Tiger Woods as a junior golfer. My dad had me play some tournaments as a junior, perhaps to relive his glory days, but I was primarily a recreational golfer.
I did not really think about serious competitive golf until I became a freshman in high school. I needed to play a sport in high school to build my college resume. At first, I practiced because I did not want to get picked on by the upperclassmen, but quickly I proved that I was good enough to be a varsity starter as a freshman. Then it became fun and I loved the team and the competition. I also started playing SCPGA tournaments regularly after my freshman year (2022) and consistently placed in the top 5. In my sophomore year, I became the #1 varsity golfer and was 1st team all league (Spring 2023). I had a shot at winning the individual league title, but I had an AP test scheduled on the same day as the final tournament. After the spring high school golf season, I prepped for a month to join the SCPGA Toyota Cup, which hopefully will lead to AJGA points and tournaments. I made the cut at Q school in June 2023 with a two day score of 150 (71 & 79).
I did not really think I was going to go down the recruiting path for golf. I hold a 4.58 GPA (4.0 unweighted), I am the lead designer for the all district robotics team (FRC Team 691). I also spent the past summer studying biomedical engineering sponsored by the engineering school at Columbia University. I thought I would just go to college on academics. However, I have made significant progress in improving my swing, mental toughness and game over the past two years. I love spending time with my friends and teammates on the golf course, and I want to continue to grow my passion for the sport and see how far I can go. I am out there grinding on the golf course everyday, because I see the opportunity and it's a great balance to my heavy academic coursework (five AP and Honors courses this year). I love it.
Thank you for reviewing my profile. I look forward to speaking with you and showing you my game.
