I am looking for colleges that are both academically and athletically competitive. I pride myself on high performance in the classroom and also the water. I am grounded by the fact that my efforts in school will translate onto the boat. As a 4-year Mandarin Chinese student, I have no problem facing challenges. I decided to study that language knowing it is one of, if not, the hardest to learn for English speakers. I can say the same for rowing as requires discipline, focus, and selflessness for rowers to not only succeed but to improve.
As a rower, those men are literally in the same boat as me. So I understand that my ego must be broken and rebuilt with my team. My goal is to help myself and my team strive for greatness.
For every race or piece, I prime myself by meditating, even for a short time. On the boat, I am focused as I often have a death stare. That focus has aided me in every aspect of life. I intend to continue sharpening my focus and embracing my competitive nature at the collegiate level.
