My name is Derek Bryant and I'm a varsity track and cross country runner for Cinco Ranch High School. Running, characterized by many as a form of punishment, but to me, a gateway to self-development and tenacity. Running has been with me since I was 12 and in middle school. A simple and basic exercise that fueled my self-determination to improve and persevere. I fell in love with the sport after running several fun-run 5ks in middle school and spending time exploring different parts of Cinco Ranch. Through running I've learned the worst and best parts of myself; I've seen greatness through others and what I can become. I admire and look up to running teams such as the Bowerman Track Club and individuals such as our alumni who have achieved their own success in the sport. My academic goals for college are to major in Computer Engineering and attain my Bachelor's degree. I've taken several AP classes in high school and have been learning Java and C# and enjoy the mental challenge it brings. Like running, I find it interesting how you can attain the same results in many different ways, but the differing efficiency of certain methods make one more virtuous over the other. I have learned that persistence and consistency in my pursuit of success is a must and that through it all, I have to stay focused and virtuous. I wish to hopefully find a college that will make me both academically and athletically challenged and prepared for the world ahead of me. Godspeed.
