Hi, my name is Lexi Meyer and I am a 2020 centerfielder/outfielder from Yorkville, IL. I fell in love with the game of softball at the age of 6 but as I grew up I realized it was much more then just a game. Softball has taught me more in life then some classes in high school have. It has given me the opportunity to make friends that will last a lifetime, it has taught me how to be apart of a family. Softball has also showed me that when I am not in the best spot in life, that I have a go-to, to get my mind off things and make me feel better.
In my softball career I have also managed to succeed in the classroom as well. I hold a 3.7 out of 4 gpa and I was inducted into National Honors Society as a junior which then continues into my senior year. Lastly, I was invited to the Academic Achievement Games the summer of 2019 where I met some new friends and got to talk to some college coaches. It was a great experience but I learned that I was mainly there because of my academics which made me reflect on how you can not just have the skills to be a softball player, you also have to have the smarts and willingness to do good at school and in the classroom.
Lastly, I have been playing softball for 11 years now and it truly has changed my life. I have played up on every travel team since I was 10 because the coaches always asked me to tryout for the older team. I also played JV as a freshman and sophomore, which then added me getting moved up to varsity for regionals. I now just recently started varsity in centerfield my junior year and will now be moving on to senior year. Many coaches have expressed to me how my effort is second to none and how they admire the fact that I would run through walls for my team, and I truly think that is the perfect definition for me as a player. It is a team sport and I would give my body for my team. I am so thankful for all the opportunities this sport has given me.
Thank you, Lexi Meyer
