Personal Statement
My best traits are my Work Ethic and my Perserverence. As a student and an athlete, these are very important to me. I believe these traits were a big part of me receiving Female Athlete Athlete of the Year in 2013. I am also an encouraging teammate and I am very "coachable." My Christian faith is also very important to me. I'm participating in Young Life and Fellowship of Christian Athletes outside of my normal / routine activities.
My game situational awareness has always been higher than most of my teammates. I work to be in (e.g. moving, back up, encouragement) every defensive play. I think this is partly because my dad was an ASA Men's Fastpitch minor league player in 1979 and 1980, and he has been my coach and softball-mentor since 2006. My brother, Conner Cross, plays college football at Harding University. My cousin, Erin Shireman, is the starting catcher for the University of Texas Longhorns. The mentality and work effort required for college athletics is who we are. I have a very supportive, loving, and faith-centered family.
