KENNEDY MARSHALL – PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have been playing basketball since the age of 5. Realizing at a young age, I enjoyed the team camaraderie, my natural abilities to play hard, being a main contributor, and being very competitive on the court. I aspire to play at the collegiate level, and I know that playing in college is an opportunity that will be life changing.
I have strong physical defense, solid shooting skills, not afraid to drive inside, versatile player who can adjust to fill multiple positions, a visionary on the court, speed, mental toughness and a high basketball IQ. I am a team leader while uplifting and encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and lead by example during practice and while on the court. I strive to be a strong contributor to my teams and highly regard myself as a recruit that has many basketball qualities to offer at the collegiate level.
I continue to develop my basketball skills year around, participating in group, shooting, one-on-one, and strength-conditioning trainings. I am a starter on my Varsity team and participate during the Fall and Winter leagues. I have participated in AAU since 5th grade, while making the teams to play up one grade level since 2020. Along with basketball, I played soccer through the 8th grade, where I got the opportunity to play in the Junior Women’s World Cup in Paris in 2019, which also contributed to my athleticism.
In the classroom, I work hard and, currently, have a 3.0 GPA. I tested and was placed in the Level 4 Academically Advanced Program from 3rd – 8th grades. In high school, I was accepted into the Global IB Honors STEM program, in which I take IB and some college-level courses. Also, I volunteer at local youth basketball camps, as assistant coach to elementary school level basketball teams, at concessions for fundraising, and at my church.
I want to attend a college where I plan to strive for success in the classroom and on the basketball court. I am open to all options and want to find the right college match to compete at the highest level of competition possible; and to be able to achieve my career aspirations. I hope to have a positive influence on my peers, be a role model in my community, and make my parents proud.
