I first became interested in golf when the LPGA Volvik Tournament came to visit our home club, Travis Pointe, in 2017. I really enjoyed getting to see the golfers up close. I watched them play and was amazed at how far they could hit the ball and asked my dad if I could learn how to play. My passion for golf started there, and I quickly realized that, like the other sports and music that I participate in (swimming, figure skating and the cello) that it requires commitment, hard work and a lot of practice in order to improve. With hard work and practice, I have been able to achieve my goals in my other sports and shave off 30 strokes from my golf score. My current participation on a Synchronized ice skating team has taught me the importance of teamwork and supporting one another during all the practices and difficult nationwide competitions. I have brought that same sense of team spirit to my high school golf team, of which I enjoyed serving as a team captain this past year. I had fun helping my high school golf coach with the LPGA girls golf and led golf games and drills for the young girls during the Solheim Cup in Toledo in 2021. I golfed in 6 tournaments with the Kensington Junior tournament series this past summer.
I am a member of the National Honor Society, DECA, and the Red Cross Club at my school. I participate in various service activities such as helping with the school blood drive, helping with kids activities at the local Rec center, and help my church with the Annual Harvest Dinner. I am a Scholar Athlete and take several AP courses. I enjoy creative writing and communicating and am thinking of majoring in Journalism/Broadcast journalism or possibly Marketing/Business.
My short term golf goals are to improve my short game of chipping and putting and improve my distance with my driver by 30 yards. Each year I have continued to improve and reduce my strokes. My goal for this next year is to shave 10 strokes off my score and get into the high 70s/low 80s for 18. My collegiate goals are to be part of a golf team that will challenge me while creating a welcoming and supporting environment to help me continue to improve my game. I would love to play for a coach who can draw the best out of me, both as a player, and a person.
