I am Sophia Lefler, a Junior Golfer at Jenks High School in Tulsa OK. I will graduate in May of 2025. Prior to attending Jenks, I attended Victory Christian, which is a small private Christian school in Tulsa. I spent my elementary and middle school years at Victory, which provided me a solid foundation of faith, education, and what it means to be a servant leader. I will carry this with me throughout my high school and college year. I left Victory to pursue my dreams of playing college golf. It was a hard decision to leave my friends and a place that was a second home to me for many years, but I am dedicated to this goal. Jenks has provided me with the team golf experience. I have developed friendships and bonds with other girls who have similar dreams as me.
Outside of High School Golf, I compete competitively. I started out with US Kids, I was blessed to be able to qualify and attend 3 World Championships at Pinehurst. This experience provide me with an opportunity to understand the practice required to compete at this level. Since Oklahoma Golf in inactive from November through February, I traveled to Texas to compete in the North Texas PGA Junior Golf Tour. At the age of 12 I began competing in Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour. Through this tour I was exposed to several High School golfer. The increase in yardage and more challenging courses provided me the opportunity to stretch and push my skill level. Most recently I competed in my first AJGA qualifier which earned me a spot in the AJGA Gateway First Bank Tulsa Junior. It was an eye-opening experience and again reminds me the time commitment required to compete at the college level.
Some of my accomplishments I am most proud of have been;
Currently, I am not sure what I want to declare as my major or which school I am wanting to attend. I am exploring several ideas but am leaning towards continuing my career in golf. If I don’t end up playing on the tour after college, I am leaning toward a career that keeps me in the golfing industry. Thank you for reading my bio and learning more about my golfing experiences. I hope the passion I have for playing at the college level is expressed.
