My freshman year my mom had encouraged me to try a new sport since my older brother had previously enjoyed and been successful in crew. I entered the sport with a very doubtful attitude, but that was quickly changed. Throughout my first few weeks of practices, I fell in love with the sport. This past year I have created a healthy relationship with exercise and my overall health in hopes of improving my athletic performance.
After a very enjoyable and successful novice season I have focused my time on improving my athletic abilities. Whether it is going to the gym and strength training on my own or ensuring I attended every practice possible, I make sure to give my all in every piece or lift in order to improve. Since I am smaller than the typical rower i make sure to make up for it by being the best I can for the size that I am. Even when I am not working out I put in effort by improving my knowledge through research and rewatching old race videos.
This experience has inspired me to pursue a career in the field of exercise science. My goal is to get a bachelors degree in kinesiology or exercise physiology and then attend grad school to obtain my doctorate of physical therapy.
I am looking for a school that can provide me a competitive environment with supportive team mates and coaches. I am a dedicated, hard working rower and student and would be a great addition to any team.
