Personal Statement
I have been participating in track and field ever since I was 12 years old. When I first started running and jumping, I knew that I wanted to continue the sport professionally in the future. Out of all the sports that I have participated in my life, I have really found a love for track and field and being able to continue it in college is my dream.
Off and on the track, I am always uplifting and encouraging my teammates. At track practice, I can be found motivating my friends to push through their workouts. At track meets, I can be found cheering on my teammates in every one of their events and asking them how their events went if I happened to miss it.
When I make a goal for myself, I do not step away from what I am trying to achieve. I stay focused on my aspirations and I feel like that makes me a great athlete.
I would like to go to a college that has an emphasis on good academics. Academics is equally as important to me as track and field. Just as I go after my goals in track, I like to push myself and achieve my best in the classroom. I hope to achieve beyond what I thought I was capable of doing, in the college that I select to continue my track and field journey.
I have a global outlook on life because of my background. I was born in Tucson, Arizona to British Nigerian parents who took me to England as soon as I was born. Having been raised as a British Nigerian, I came back to the United States in 2013, because my dad changed jobs. Being a global citizen with a diverse world view, has made me an asset to every team I have been on.
